Eye Care at Coggeshall Eye Centre
At Coggeshall Eye Centre, we are committed to providing high-quality, personalised eye care. We have invested in modern diagnostic and imaging technology to give our optometrists the tools they need to assess, monitor and manage your eye health.
We believe that a good eye examination is about much more than checking whether you need glasses. It is an opportunity to assess the health of your eyes, identify potential problems and discuss any concerns you may have.
What can I expect from my eye examination?
Your appointment begins with a discussion about your general eye health, medical history and any concerns or symptoms you may be experiencing. This gives our optometrist an opportunity to understand your individual needs.
We maintain electronic patient records, allowing detailed and consistent clinical notes to be recorded. This also makes it easier to compare findings from previous examinations and monitor changes in your eye health over time.
Assessing your vision
We use modern visual testing and refraction equipment to assess your eyesight and determine whether you would benefit from a spectacle prescription. Our aim is to provide an accurate assessment of your vision and discuss any appropriate correction.
Assessing the health of your eyes
Your eye health is just as important as your vision. Depending on your individual needs, your examination may include:
- Visual field assessment: To examine your peripheral vision and help identify possible visual field defects.
- Intraocular pressure measurement: To measure the pressure inside your eyes, which is one of several important assessments used in glaucoma detection and monitoring.
- Binocular vision assessment: To assess how well your eyes work together.
- Ocular imaging: We offer Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), providing detailed cross-sectional images of the structures inside your eyes. You can read more about this on our OCT page.
The tests performed will depend on your age, clinical history, symptoms and individual eye care requirements.
How long will my eye examination take?
We believe that you should have sufficient time to discuss your eye health without feeling rushed.
Eye examinations for both NHS and private patients are allocated approximately 40–50 minutes, depending on the clinician and your individual eye care requirements.
This allows time for a thorough examination, discussion of the findings and any questions you may have.
OCT Imaging
We are pleased to offer Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), which provides detailed cross-sectional images of the structures inside your eyes.
- Private patients: OCT imaging is included at no additional charge with private eye examinations.
- NHS patients: OCT imaging is available for an additional charge.
You can find out more about this technology on our dedicated OCT page.
Looking after your eyes
Regular eye examinations are important even if you feel your vision has not changed. Many eye conditions can develop gradually without obvious symptoms, making routine professional assessment an important part of looking after your long-term eye health.
At Coggeshall Eye Centre, we aim to provide individual care and advice based on your needs, helping you maintain healthy eyes and good vision.
